I am going to a community college next year and plan on living on my own. My parents are paying for my college, but is it possible for me to take out a loan to pay for my housing?

Answer by hoodlem If you can stay with your parents for the first couple of years. I don’t know if that is an option or not but you will not regret it later. You want as small of a loan to pay later as possible.

Answer by just not that all alternative “private” student loans do not require payment until after you graduate or drop out. Try Sallie Mae or Wells Fargo. You will need a cosigner with awesome credit and a high income or you wont be approved.

I currently have a student loan with citibank. I am hearing about the loan forgiveness programs for teachers (I teach special education). The things that I have read say it has to be a direct loan, and I am having trouble figuring out if I might qualify.
